In 2012, my friend dragged me to my first Bar Method class with her. I knew I loved it right away, but I was skeptical it would be something I would keep up with. I went ahead and took advantage of the new client special anyway and after that I was hooked. For the next 6 months I came to class regularly, it was the first time in my life that I truly enjoyed working out. Then, due to a new 24/7 demanding job, I took a hiatus from Bar Method. That job wasn’t the right fit and six months later I left it feeling depleted, discouraged and unhappy. I had lost myself in that job and knew it was going to take hard work to re-find myself. The first thing I wanted to do was get back into Bar Method so I signed up as a bar star and haven’t looked back. I savored the hour I took out of each day just for me and slowly started climbing out of my rut. Not only did I love class, but I could feel the positive effects each day after class both physically and mentally. I was standing up a little straighter both because of the improvement in my posture and because of the confidence Bar Method was instilling in me – if I could make it through 6 minutes of thigh, I could do anything! Then came another few rough months for me personally with several family tragedies and a bad break up. But as the rest of my life felt like it was spinning out of control, I turned even closer to Bar Method and started going more often. The friendly smiles and familiar faces of both the other students and staff served as a retreat from my challenges and a supportive community lifting me up.

I could not be more grateful to all of the amazing people at Bar Method for helping me believe in myself again.

A year later, it was hard to articulate just how much Bar Method meant to me… but I decided it was time to try. I had to give myself a few pep talks and a deadline to finally get up the courage to tell one of the instructors that I wanted to be a Bar Method teacher. Bar Method has had such a positive effect on my life that I wanted to join the Bar Method team and help others experience what I have.
